Rotovnik Plesnik Homestead

Farm Stay Rotovnik Plesnik combines the comfort and charm of an old homestead with a 200-year tradition and the modernity of the new Hiša Tam čez. It is located in an idyllic valley below the Kope ski resort, where guests can enjoy unspoilt nature and peace. Guests are offered 27 beds in 9 rooms; 4 rooms in the old homestead, furnished with furniture made from local wood, and 5 rooms in the new house, modern and sustainably designed with balconies and air conditioning. Hiša Tam čez also offers a shared space with a kitchen for workshops and events.

A special feature of the farm is organic production and self-sufficiency, as guests are offered healthy and seasonal food from the farm itself and from neighbouring organic farms. They produce homemade juices, liqueurs, spirits, jams and honey. In their cuisine, they follow the culinary tradition of Carinthia and treat their guests to Carinthian “košta”. The farm is suitable both for individuals and for families looking for active holidays with opportunities for hiking, cycling and skiing, or for a peaceful break with relaxation and selfness programmes.

The Rotovnik inn and farm, known locally as Plesnik, have a long and rich tradition, with beginnings dating back to 1858. The year is still visible today on a wooden beam in the inn, while the house was most likely built much earlier. In the past, the inn served carters and, as it does today, operated as part of a self-contained farm, which once also had its own sawmill and mill.

The homestead has remained in the family’s hands throughout the years, and today the sixth generation of the Rotovnik family already lives and works here. In 2006, Jože, the son of Oskar, and his wife Marija, with the help of their daughter Helena, renovated the entire house and gave it an appearance that faithfully preserves the spirit of former times. During this period, the inn was transformed into a farm stay, which is today run by Helena and her family.

Farm Stay Rotovnik Plesnik is a place where tradition is subtly intertwined with modern comfort, and homeliness with carefully selected experiences. Embraced by unspoilt nature beneath Kope, guests are welcomed by peace and warmth that only a homestead with a long story and a sincere sense of authenticity can create.

The more than 200-year-old homestead and the comfort of staying in the new Hiša Tam čez together form a harmonious whole, where heritage meets modern living. Hiša Tam čez is designed with deep respect for nature, built from wood from the Pohorje forests and shaped by the skilful hands of local craftsmen, so every space reflects a connection with nature and the local craft tradition.

Wood also remains the central element of the stay in the older part of the homestead. The rooms are furnished with local wood, with each one designed in a single type of wood, giving the space a special character, warmth and a sense of natural connection.

Every room, every detail and every flavour tell the story of Carinthia — a story of organic production, homemade delicacies and sincere hospitality. Here, the day begins with a view, continues with the taste of authentic Carinthian “košta” and ends in the perfect peace of nature. Farm Stay Rotovnik Plesnik is not just a farm stay, but a place where one pauses, breathes and once again feels the beauty of a simple yet exceptional life.

Countryside rhythm

On our farm, animals have their own special place and their own peace. Among the meadows, you may meet a small horse, cows and sheep, each adding in its own way to the rhythm of the homestead. Children love to watch them, while adults often pause for a moment beside them, because there is something very calming in this simple countryside everyday life.

These are not big things, but that is exactly where the charm lies. The soft mooing of cows, the curious gaze of a small horse, sheep grazing and the feeling that time flows a little more slowly here. Such moments make a visit to the farm more homely, genuine and memorable.
